WMF Wächtersbach Art Nouveau Jugendstil Teapot, circa 1910, 16cm high.

An antique Art Nouveau Jugendstil Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) ceramic teapot, circa 1910 by the German companies WMF and Wächtersbach Ceramics.

The ceramic teapot has an electroplated rim, spout & cover, with two handles covered with woven basketwork and is decorated in a white, grey, blue & green geometric pattern.

There is an example of a similar teapot in the Glasgow Museums collections as the teapot was part of a range of items featuring this pattern which included preserve jars, boxes, cake stands, serving trays etc (I also have a serving tray for sale in this pattern in a separate listing which is photographed with the teapot).

Marks: The teapot is marked in two places - to the base with impressed numbers 4223 and a printed maker's mark 'WMF. Decor 2000', with pattern number 21 & there is a faint impressed 'ostrich WMF G' monogram (in use from around 1900 until about 1918) to the underneath of the lid.

Date: c. 1910

Size: 16cm high x 9cm wide x 19cm deep.
