WAS Benson Arts and Crafts Ceiling Light with Powell Vaseline Glass Shade
 
Extraordinary and extremely rare WAS Benson ceiling light complete with original James Powell vaseline glass 'candy stripe' conical shade, unique brass twisted spiral cage design gallery and stylised 'beehive' design ceiling rose.
 
An unseen and unrecorded design this most beautiful ceiling light is a one off example of early Arts and Crafts electric lighting design by WAS Benson. The fine brass shade gallery is beautifully styled to form a twisted spiral open form 'cage' which is hand crafted to precision.
 
The wonderful 'candy stripe' vaseline shade exhibits superb translucency and clarity especially once lit.
 
Fully stamped W.A.S BENSON to brass gallery and etched registration mark Reg 290976 to shade.
 
Condition:  In excellent condition and in full working order, rewired & ready to install with black antique style twist silk flex. The fitting rim to the glass shade has undergone professional cosmetic restoration in one area which is completely hidden by the gallery once installed and mentioned for accuracy only. The 'beehive' shape ceiling rose is a hand crafted replica replacement.
