Rare Newlyn Arts and Crafts copper writing desk set.
 
A very rare Newlyn Arts and Crafts copper writing desk set comprising of matching pair of candlesticks and writing blotter embossed with stylised diving fish, acquatic vegetation and bubbles.
 
This is the first example of a Newyn desk set we have seen, the candlesticks alone are scarcely found in rectangular form and together with their matching writing tablet makes this a most rare desk set.
 
The  square form candlesticks main stem terminate with typical Newlyn folded over seams and rivets and are both marked with the Newlyn stamp to their base plates. The desk blotter has matching fish designs to each corner to house the blotter or paper ream receptacle.
 
Size: The candlesticks are cm height, the blotter  cm x cm.
 
Circa: 1900
 
Markings: Stamped Newlyn to each candlestick baseplate.
 
Condition: In excellent condition.
