Rare Modernist Art Deco Geometric Colonial Indian Silver & Lucite Tea Service.
A striking art deco Indian 900 grade silver and lucite three piece tea service with circular quadrant shaped bodies set on dome shape feet finely engraved with odeonesque cartouches.
Mounted with vivid D-shaped red lucite handles and knobs enhancing its design in the modernist Art Deco style.
Although unmarked, the service was made by Narotamdas Bhau of Bombay where similar examples with lucite mounts and chasing are known , the company made high quality artistic silver for the Maharajahs and Nawabs during the colonial Raj. An example of a similar service with tray is shown for reference.
Condition: In excellent original condition with minor indentations to side of sugar basin.
Size: Teapot 14.5 cm high, milk jug 11.5cm high and sugar basin 12.5cm high.
