Glasgow School Arts and Crafts Silver Candlesticks by Margaret Gilmour.

A superb and rare pair of Glasgow School silvered candlesticks by Margaret Gilmour c1900.

Of typical Glasgow School square section form, the hand planished brass is decorated with Mackintosh style roses and leaves to all sides, the quality is excellent and they are delicately and finely executed, these are a form that is seldom seen.

Considered as one of the “Glasgow Girls”, Margaret Gilmour attended the School of Art from 1877 until 1880. The Gilmour Studio was set up with her 2 sisters at 179 West George St. Glasgow.

Size: 18cm high.

Date: c. 1900.

Condition: In excellent original condition, there has been little use and the silvering is unblemished.
