ARTHUR W. SIMPSON (1857 - 1922); THE HANDICRAFTS.

Extremely rare tiger oak Voysey influenced adjustable dressing table mirror, Kendal, England, c. 1910; The design is superb - clearly demonstrating Simpson’s shared influences with architect CFA Voysey; simple yet ingenious and together with the craftsmanship of Simpson makes this example an extremely special and sought after rare example; The only other example we have seen was exhibited at the Voysey / Baillie Scott Exhibition at Blackwell in 2011; The rear hinged ratchet mechanism for adjusting the mirror angle encompasses Simpson’s ideologies of design and engineering in wood and also utilises his ebony biscuit tenon jointing methods that are often copied by craftsmen today; 54.5cm high x 55cm wide x 26cm deep; Provenance: Private Collection UK.
