A superb large size stylish ceramic bulbous pitcher or jug by Dr. Christopher Dresser with geometric stylised handle in the Japanese style made by the short lived company of Samuel Lear.

The bulbous main body is wonderfully glazed in rich deep cobalt blue tones over a beige background and is very well potted, the design set off with a striking Japanesque style square section geometric handle.

Size:  19.5cm high.

Date:  circa 1885.

Condition: In excellent original condition with a glaze miss to the foot rim where glaze pooling has adhered to the kiln floor during manufacture and a tiny nick to spout rim mentioned for complete accuracy, importantly there are no cracks.

Marks: There is a faint mark to the base under the glaze.
