BIRMINGHAM GUILD OF HANDICRAFT (BGH) No. 77 Antique Art Nouveau/Arts and Crafts Copper & Brass Table Lamp with W.A.S. Benson Switch c.1905, 45cm high.  

 

Extremely rare antique Art Nouveau/Arts and Crafts Birmingham Guild of Handicraft (BGH) No. 77 Copper & Brass Table Lamp with beautifully crafted copper reflector shade, height adjustable copper tube, cast brass foot and original W.A.S. Benson switch, Birmingham, England, c. 1905.  No.77 in the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft catalogue (source V&A museum).  

 

The lamp is made from intricate superbly finished brass components that are highly engineered, well designed & are in superb condition.  

 

As well as the lamp being height adjustable, the reflector can be rotated to suit, making it a truly versatile table lamp that can be used to light any purpose, including a painting, sculpture or dressing table for example. 

 

Provenance is from Madresfield Court in Malvern Worcestershire - a highly important country house showcasing the very best from the arts & crafts movement.

 

Highly rare & unseen in such excellent condition.  

 

Size: 45cm high (height can be adjusted to suit) x 16.25cm base width.  

 

Date: c. 1905

 

Marks: Impressed with B.G.H. mark.

 

Condition:  In excellent condition with W.A.S. Benson switch.  In full working order.  Rewired & ready to use with period style twisted black silk flex.
