Arts and Crafts Jesson & Birkett Brass Lamp with W.A.S. Benson Vaseline Shades
A stylish and rare large size Edwardian Arts and Crafts brass octagonal form double arm table lamp by Jesson & Birkett fully complete with its original matching candy stripe vaseline glass lamp shades made by James Powell & Sons c1905.
Stylishly constructed and of high quality, the imposing lamp has a tall octagonal form graduated pillar form base surmounted with a most unusual twin armed light shade holder to showcase the vaseline glass shade arrangement.
Rare for a lamp of this period by a leading arts and crafts maker to have its original vaseline glass shades and retaining its original patina. The lamp is top quality and the James Powell shades were made for both W.A.S. Benson and Jesson & Birkett.
Provenance: Period Oxfordshire country house.
Size: Height approx. 72cm total height x 23 cm width to edge of shades.
Date: Circa 1905.
Condition: In excellent condition retaining its original patina, the lamp has been re-wired with antique style braided black silk flex and is in full working order ready to install.
