Art Nouveau WMF Tapered Green Glass Silver Plated Mounted Claret Jug.
 
A superb antique art nouveau WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, Geislingen) tapered green glass silver plated pewter mounted Claret Jug with knot finial, sinuous handle and original green glass liner.  The jug features a beautiful lady with upstretched arms under fruit clusters, surrounded by typical Art Nouveu whiplash leafy sprays.   Designed under the sculptor and director of the WMF Art Studio Albert Mayer.
 
The jug carries the WMF mark used circa 1885-1895.  Stamped "WMFB i/o OX" signifying that the base-metal is Britannia Metal and that the silver plate was "oxidised" to give it a darker, antique silver patina.
 
Marks:  Stamped "WMFB i/o OX" with Ostrich mark under one foot.
 
Size: 36cm high x 17cm wide x 20cm deep.
 
Condition: In good condition, with bend to finial and break on lid (hinge has siezed up).  Importantly the green glass liner is intact.
 
Date: Circa 1900.
